Table of Contents:
- # IMPORTANT
- 1. All protective grease coatings must be removed to insure against blocking or pollution of the lubrication system.
- 2. Before a machine is placed in its operating position it should be determined that the floor is satisfactory as a support of the machine's weight. The floor should firmly support the machine's base at all points.
- 3. The machine must be level. A planed surface has been provided in the floor of the tooling area as a convenience in levelling the machine parallel with, and at right angles to, the main axis.
- 4. The stock reel should be assembled in its working position, and its center shaft and tube aligned with the work axis of the machine.
- 5. The correct amount of lubricating oil and coolant must be inserted into the respective reservoirs. These reservoirs should be clean before they are filled.
- 6. All grease and oil fittings must be filled. Instructions for lubricating the main end slide are given on page 22.
- 7. Electrical connections should be checked to make certain the motor is mounted and wired to rotate in a counter clockwise direction — toward the front side of the machine.
- 8. With all camshaft movement clutches disengaged, the machine should be idled to pump the lube oil to various bearings on the line.
- 9. With machine shut down, the locking pin should be lifted by the hand puller and the carrier indexed by aid of a bar placed between the stock reel tubes. The locking pin should be re-engaged.
- 10. With the machine shut down, the camshaft brake should be tested by aid of the handwheel in place on the main cross shaft (power feed). The wheel should be turned clockwise and should be removed after the test is made.
