Renault Laguna Diesel 1.9 Phase 2 — Technical Data Sheet 2001

Technical data sheet AUTO-VOLT N°780 (July–August 2001) for the Renault Laguna Phase 2 diesel models from April 1998 onwards. This workshop manual covers four 1.9-litre diesel engine variants based on the F9Q architecture (1,870 cc displacement): the F9Q 716 and F9Q 710 both rated at 72 kW/100 hp, the F9Q 717 paired with the automatic DPO gearbox, and the F9Q 718 common-rail injection engine delivering 79 kW/110 hp with 250 N.m torque at 1,750 rpm. All variants feature turbo-diesel direct injection with a single overhead camshaft driven by a toothed belt. The cooling system differs between engines: the F9Q 716 relies on a conventional thermoswitch, whilst the F9Q 710, 717, and 718 employ the GCTE centralised water temperature management system with a dual CTN sensor (resistance spanning 5,290–6,490 Ω at 0°C down to 300–450 Ω at 80°C), eliminating the need for a separate thermoswitch. The electric cooling fan operates at low speed when coolant reaches 99°C and shuts off at 96°C; high-speed engagement triggers at 102°C with cutoff at 99°C, and an alert activates above 105°C. Fan relay control circuit resistance measures 62 Ω. Transmission options include the JC5 manual for dTi models, the PK1 for dCi variants, and the automatic DPO for 2.0L and dTi applications. A comprehensive commercial variant identification table covers all Berline and Nevada body styles produced from April 1998 through April 2000 and beyond.
